almost new, failed to introduce myself!

I joined this forum earlier this month, and was warmly welcomed, but I want to be polite and introduce myself! I live in southern New Mexico and do most of my "hunting and gathering" in very sandy terrain, so "high wind warnings" are my friend! I also have family ties in central NM (Albuquerque area), who share my love of this hobby -- so I get opportunities to do some hiking in more diverse areas now and then. I'll attach a picture of my typical terrain -I have been totally amazed at some of the "in situ" pictures in these forums, i.e. "field finds" .. "stream finds" .. awesome website, great folks! The attached picture shows two fire pits .. lots of "cracked rock", and oftentimes tools are found in close proximity. And .. here's a pretty good snapshot of a desert dweller my sister ALMOST got too close to!

Nan,,,as "trask,,,here's my FORMAL welcome from "The Central Texas Aspect"
I am planning on a trip to Hereford Tx. soon.and am very interested in what might be there in that area.I'm seriously thinking in investing in snake boots. From what I am told the snakes are just as prolific as the Indians./comanche

thanks for the welcome comanche! Last time I was thru Hereford area, the greatest need was for a clothes pin on your nose! haha .. some of the cattle feed lots around there go as far as the eye can see !! (just kidding ..) I have a portion of a fantastic collection of artifacts (bought from the pastor who performed my marriage ceremony the 1st time!) -- all of the artifacts were found in Texas sand dunes around Olton, Muleshoe, those vicinities. Good luck on your trip, I'll be interested in what you find there!

Sounds good Nan,,,All of those places my hunting buddy talks about. So we might come out good .I promise to share my results.
The good part about Hereford is that my buddies family have farmed and lived there for generations,,,so we will be able to hunt unprohibited/comanche

Welcome, from Near Los Angeles... Great buncha folks around this place...

Love the rattler photo.. I have a deep respect for Rattlers, as they are Apex predators on the small Mammals.. But I love keeping a Healthy distance from them 100% of the time...

Thanks! I was thrilled to get this shot, and the snake was "so cooperative" .. haha .. he wasn't going anywhere until we left his "space" !! I have a good zoom lense and there was lots of clear space between "he and me .." every time I talk about how beautiful a snake is, I get lots of looks, but they are one of nature's beauties! We always "drag a stick" when we hike the desert, so they have plenty of time to "feel" us coming, so we really don't run into that many of them, but this one was well within striking distance of my sister, she sprouted WINGS! *grin*
