Hello from Wisconsin!

Hello from Wisconsin. My name is Paul and I've been collecting artifacts for over twenty years now. I've spent all those years collecting in Adams County Wisconsin and have a lot of hixton (half of everything I find is made from it) and I used to find a lot of Wisconsin pottery types back when the paper mills used to buy up land and plow it up for plantations. Those days are long gone but I still have a lot of pottery shards!

I went to school for Anthropology/Archaeology at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where I did some professional level work including working on several "digs" and fieldschools. Long story short, there was a conflict of interest between me collecting and being a professional in the field. I tried to buck the system and convince people that collectors and archaeologist can get along, work together but to no avail. When I was forced to give up my collecting/collection or get out of the field I got out of the field. I still collect to this day and have so much information in log books as to where all my sites are and what was found there that I think it's a shame I can't work with "them".

Through the years I've also found some copper artifacts and fur trade items but not a lot. I have, over the past 5-10 years really concentrated on my pottery collection. I have a lot of peruvian stuff, lot's of mississippian stuff, lots of pottery period. I enjoy restoring it and restoration has become one of my main hobbies. If all goes well I will start posting some pics of some of my collection here soon.

Looking forward to getting to know you and learning!

Welcome aboard from northwest Illinois. I used to live in Beloit though! I hope to see some pics of the hixton. WI pottery is not too common either.

Looking forward to some pictures and please include some of your restored pottery pieces and info on restoration method. My friend and I have found numerous pottery shards and always try and piece some together. Welcome from CA
