Another Guy from West Texas

Hello! Yep, I'm from West Texas. The other two guys (who posted recently) from WT didn't put me up to this, I swear!

I'm a flint knapper. I also like to make bows and arrows and such. You can look me up under the name of "jackcrafty" on the primitivearcher site where I've posted some of my work, if you're curious.

Anyway, just thought I would introduce myself. You guys really know your stuff and I'm looking forward to learning a lot about Native American artifacts. Thanks for sharing your knowlege!

Cool stuff man. I have always been around traditional and primitive archery. My dad was the president of the Ohio Society of Traditional Archers for awhile. He got into making his own self bows and cane arrows when I was very young. That is all he hunts with now. He has taken quite a few deer and turkeys with his setup. He usually uses obsidian heads. Have you messed around any with an atlatl ?

Gibby, yep, I've made some darts and atlatls...mainly for my kids. I started on a set for myself but never finished.

It's amazing how far you can throw one of those darts with very little effort...and they hit hard too. It's a bit scary when the kids are messing aroung with them!

Scary to say the least. It is amazing how far you can throw them. Can't help think about the Mayans and the Spaniards fighting. They were throwing them darts over a hundred yards. Farther than the Spanish guns could reach. Well and then the gun technology caught up and we all know what happened next. I was looking at your website. Very cool stuff on there Sir. Thanks for letting us take a look.
