Another Okie checking in for duty!

Hello everyone. I've been lurking about the website today since finding a few interesting things from rocks, arrowheads to bones on/around my camping property on Clear Creek in Peggs, Oklahoma. Nothing like the relics i see pictures of around here but I know I'll be finding some goodies to write home about.

A little about myself. I'm 30 years old and I was raised camping all around Oklahoma. Particularly at Toolie Holler, Blue Hole, Barren Fork, Spavinaw and many other places I can't remember the names of! Mostly North East Oklahoma.

I am Cherokee, have a long line of geneology traced back here in Oklahoma where a lot of my family still lives. I live in Claremore presently. My Great Uncle Alvin Lawrence lived in Talequah most of his life and owned some great land for hunting and had a lot of glass enclosed displays that went down to his sons when he died. That area seems to have a lot worth hunting. According to my Dad, Uncle Alvin had a buffalo vertebrae bone with an arrowhead stuck in it. What I would give to have pictures of that to show you guys.

Anyway, I look forward to reading more about you all and the arrowhead history that you've shared here and eventually I'll compile what we've been finding on Clear Creek. Much of our stuff is flint scrapers and we have a couple of hatchets. Most are pretty rugged and not very defined but definitely arrowheads. I'm hoping my Dad will be registering soon as this has been a phenomenal source of information for us.

We've been excavating the 4 acres on the creek with a bulldozer and we've had some new finds, the neatest thing so far are the tree roots that glow like glowsticks at night if they are full of a specific fungus. Come to find out the natives also were astounded when they saw it and thought it had magical powers. My husband and I came out of our tent on Saturday night and thought something extraterrestrial was going on. We threw the pieces of the wood in the corner of our tent and it lit it up from the outside even....have any of you seen this on your camping adventures at night?

-Shara

Here is a photo i found on the internet of the glowing tree roots

Apparently there is history of it being seen around the world (mostly in England i believe and here in the US). In Europe they believed it was related to faeries. The native americans believed it was supernatural. Apparently in Beowulf, it was written about. So it's been around for a long time.
